Welcome

After two years of uncertainty, we are happy to be back and finally have our conference this year. Hopefully, we are going to have an in-person event. In case things change, the conference will be held online.

On that note, it is our great pleasure to announce and invite you to the eleventh international language conference on the Importance of Learning Professional Foreign Languages for Communication between Cultures, which will take place at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.

We look forward to meeting you in Novi Sad.
The Conference Organizing Committee.

Publications

The organizing committee has the pleasure to announce that the selected papers will be published in one of the two following journals:

  • ERL Journal
  • Focus on ELT

ERL Journal guidelines can be found on the link. When published in ERL Journal, the papers become visible on its pages in as many as 5 different subpages, that is at the pages of the volume issue itself, but also at the subpages linked to the journal’s main page (see the purple links below the graphics, three of which direct the readers to papers). ERL Journal is designated for papers on cross-disciplinary, educational and linguistic, issues. It is meant to address (I) the position of language and how it is put into practice across different schools, cultures, methods and personalities, and (II) the experiencing of language by learners in terms of their language beliefs, activity, affect and cognition. ERL Journal includes theoretical and empirical papers, presenting qualitative and quantitative approaches. Resting on the overarching premise of language shaping our reality and education (assignment of meanings to the world and subject matter learnt), it ultimately aims to unravel this process and to boost the position of language in education.

Focus on ELT Journal guidelines can be found on the link. The journal is published online only biannually. FELT publishes fully refereed high-quality original research articles and book reviews for the benefit of teachers and researchers in the field of English language teaching. The scope of the journal includes but not limited to the following subjects: teaching English as a foreign or second language, English language teacher training and education, theory and practice in English language teaching and learning, English language teaching materials, innovative instructional designs in English language teaching. Submitted articles should focus on directly an aspect related to English language teaching. In any submitted article where English language teaching and learning is not the ultimate aim or touches less significant aspects of it will not be considered.

We invite you to submit your papers not later than October 30, 2022 to the conference email conference.ilc.fl@uns.ac.rs. The guest editors (Vesna Bogdanovic, Dragana Gak, Vesna Bulatovic) will receive the papers and follow with the review process. You can select which journal you would like to publish in and follow the guidelines for that journal. You can also follow the guidelines of one of the journals, but let the editors decide on the publishing. Based on the papers selected, as well as the topics of the special issues, the editors may decide to direct your paper to the journal that was not your first choice.

Novi Sad

Novi Sad attracts visitors with its safe and cozy positioning across the Petrovaradin fortress – the Gibraltar on the Danube, with its various languages that are spoken by its inhabitants, and with leisurely rhythm that is in contrast to the usual fast-paced and chaotic urban life. In the vicinity of the city nucleus loaded with Baroque, Neo-Renaissance, Classical and Bauhaus buildings, one can find picnic sites, preserved ecosystems and a complex of Orthodox monasteries scattered across the Fruška Gora National Park. The farmhouses, vineyards and wine routes at the outskirts of Novi Sad provide visitors with the opportunity to experience the richness of gastronomy and rural customs.
